However you arrived here, I’m delighted that you’ve decided to check out Rumplebags!
How I came up with the idea for Rumplebags:
I’ve always loved gift-giving, and for me a huge part of the experience is the presentation. Just as I would take an extra thrill in receiving gifts that had clearly had care and love applied to the wrapping, I used to greatly enjoy making a gift-giving experience exciting for my family and friends by choosing beautiful wrapping paper I knew that they would love, and adding gorgeous tags, bows and ribbons.
But even though my kids knew to retain their wrapping paper for my crafting projects, I would find myself heartbroken by the general level of waste associated with gift-giving, and feeling increasingly guilty as I learned more about the extent of the non-recyclability of disposable wrappings, particularly those that I favoured that were glittery and shiny.
In order to be more environmentally friendly, I tried fabric wrapping for a time, and really loved the wide variety of beautiful fabrics available, but found it tricky to wrap and tie securely, and also found that I was limited by this method to smaller presents.
Out of these frustrations came the idea for Rumplebags! Rumplebags use some of my very favourite fabrics to create beautiful gift-wraps that are versatile, easy-to-wrap, and can be used over and over again, minimising the adverse environmental impact of gift-wrapping.
At last, I am able to give gifts that feel extra-special in their presentation, while feeling happy that I’m not causing extra-harm to the environment. I was also delighted to realise that I had a product that I could share with the world!
Why they are called “Rumplebags”:
As you gather the excess fabric, the process feels haphazard and the gift seems “rumpled”. As you remove your hands and the fabric settles into a dramatic and beautiful shape, the presentation of your gift is transformed by the “rumple” effect.
Why you should consider buying a Rumplebag:
-You can give a gift that looks absolutely stunning!
Rumplebags use the beautiful drape and movement of fabric to enhance the presentation of your gift.
-You can choose a material that feels as luxurious as it looks!
With options like velvet and satin to choose from, it’s like wrapping your present in a warm hug.
-It’s super easy to wrap securely!
All you have to do is tighten the drawstrings and tie the ribbons into a bow, or gather up the excess material and tie. Even my husband, who was incapable of wrapping presents with paper wrapping, is able to tie a Rumplebag in under two minutes. There are no concerns with Rumplebag, as your present will be wrapped securely, with no danger of the gift peeking out prior to being given.
-Add your own style!
The excess materials allow you to create “bouquets”, and you can gather and drape as you wish to to bring your own style to your Rumplebag. With the opportunities for loops, tails, and ringlets, you can create your own, unique look, each time you give a gift. All Rumplebags are reversible, so you can even choose which pattern will wrap the body of the gift, and which is used as the complimentary pattern. How you rumple your gift is up to you, and you can create a presentation that is unique, dramatic, and beautiful, whether you have a particular style in mind, or are happy to let the fabric fall as it will.
-One Rumple fits all!
As long as the present is no larger than the maximum size, you can fit smaller presents in it, and use the excess material to easily create a beautiful bouquet effect. Your Rumplebag will also easily cover any shape.
-It’s a complete, all-in-one product!
Of course, you can add bows, or anything you like, but you don’t need anything to go with your Rumple, as it’s all one piece. Once you have given your gift, all you have to do is fold it up and put it away, ready to use for the next special occasion.
-Rumplebags are durable, and environmentally friendly!
Rumplebags can be used time and time again, ensuring that you cut out the environmental waste associated with paper gift-wrapping. Sadly, each year 2.3 million pounds of wrapping paper ends up in landfill in the UK alone, but with a Rumplebag, you can make your gift lavish, ornate, and shiny without feeling any environmental guilt. With high quality fabrics, you can rest assured that your Rumplebag, if treated with care, will last for all occasions, for years, and years, and years. Your Rumplebag won’t have to be washed unless it gets dirty, but if it does, you can pop your Rumplebag in the wash on the hand-wash setting at 20 degrees, and hang to dry. Although Rumplebags represent a more expensive initial outlay than orthodox wrapping materials, you could actually save money in the long run. It’s also worth noting that every Rumple Bag is zero waste!
-Rumplebags are made to order!
Perhaps you have a specific fabric in mind. Perhaps you have a general idea of the pattern and colour you’d like. Perhaps you want something made from your Grandfather’s favourite shirt, your wedding dress, or a much-loved quilt. Whatever pattern or fabric you’d like, I can make a Rumplebag for you.
How much does a Rumplebag cost?
It depends! Each Rumplebag is bespoke, and so each has a different set of costs involved, but if you’d like to check out the image gallery, it will give you an idea of the costs for some of the various Rumplebags that I have made so far.
How to use a Rumplebag:
If you have one present to give, perhaps for a friend’s birthday, then just use your Rumplebag to wrap your gift and present it! If you have a number of gifts to give, for example for your child at Christmas, you can choose a main gift to indicate that a present is extra-special, or you can use the Rumplebag like a stocking or sack and include a number of presents, perhaps individually wrapped in recyclable tissue paper.
How to gift a Rumplebag (particularly if you want to get it back!):
Each Rumplebag comes with two different gift tags. The first states “This is a Rumplebag! Please return it to me so that it can be reused, and help protect the environment”.
Please don’t feel awkward about asking for your Rumplebag back! It isn’t actually a part of the gift (unless it is
, please see below), but the gift presentation. Remember, with the traditional traditions of disposable gift-wrapping, most is thrown away, so your gift recipient won’t feel like they’re missing out, will appreciate the presentation of their gift in your gorgeous RumpleBag, and should feel positive about contributing to a new tradition that is far less damaging to the environment.
The second states “This is a Rumplebag, and it is part of your gift! Feel free to use it however you wish, even if only to return a present to me
”
